We Celebrated Turning 30…

…in Cozumel.  Jason and I are exactly 13 days apart in age, December 16 and December 29.  In September or October someone asked what we were going to do for our 30th birthdays.  I realized that I hadn’t even thought about it.  I brought the question to Jason’s attention and we decided that we should take a vacation.  We have not been on a vacation alone since our honeymoon 3 1/2 years ago.  We decided it would be appropriate to go back to where we went on our honeymoon.  So, we started looking online for a vacation to Cozumel, Mexico.

We ended up booking our trip through www.cheapcaribbean.com.  They have amazing deals.  We booked our hotel and air travel through the website.  Someone told me that they have wondered if Cheap Caribbean was a legit company.  It is.  There was even a time when I had a question about my passport.  I called their customer service line and spoke with a nice American guy.  He couldn’t answer my question so he asked his supervisor and I got my question answered.  It was great.  We were totally pleased.  (Right now they have a 4 night all-inclusive in Puerto Rico for $659/person with airfare.  There is an all-inclusive in Dominican Republic for $49/person per night.)

We booked the Sabor Resorts and Spa, an all-inclusive, adult only resort.  When we arrived to our shock it was the exact place we had stayed in on our honeymoon.  It had been bought by another company and changed names.  At check-in we were upgraded to an ocean front room.  It was amazing.  We were there the week before high season started, so the resort was only booked to 20%.  Again, amazing.  Before, I never would have paid extra for an ocean front room, and I still wouldn’t if the room wasn’t close to the water, but our room was about 30 yards from the water.  We opened the door to our balcony and just left it open so that even when we weren’t outside we could listen to waves.

At the airport we were stopped by tour people.  We decided to hear what they had to say.  We walked away with a lobster dinner on a pirate ship and a snorkeling excursion on a glass bottom boat for $100 even though the lobster dinner was $79 each if you bought tickets outright.  All we had to do was take a tour of another resort.  It was pretty painless and worth it for the price we paid for the excursions.

We did some Christmas shopping in downtown Cozumel, we caught two Dallas Cowboys games at Margaretville and enjoyed spending the rest of our time relaxing and eating at the resort.

Below is a small sampling of me playing with my camera.
