Happy Birthday America!

(So, I had planned to do a July in review, but I decided it’s much more fun to document each event separately.)

Like many others, Independence Day is my very favorite holiday.  I love the heat, the lake , the food, the music, and above all, the fireworks.  Actually, my favorite thing is fireworks dancing to patriotic music.

We spent the 4th of July on Lake Texoma.  Saturday consisted of time on the boat.CIMG3849 The guys pulling us in.

Sunday was spent visiting Jason’s Grandparents campsite at Soldier Creek on Texoma, then off to the Eastman’s where we celebrated with my family and exteded family by eating the traditional Happy Birthday America meal: hotdogs and sides. Then, then we ended the meal with AMAZING banana splits.  (I stole these pics from my cousin DeAnna’s blog.)  Eastman's 1 Eastman's 2

When we finished stuffing our bellies, we headed back to the lake where we watched the fireworks from the balcony of Derrick’s boat.  The radio was blasting the patriotic music while the fireworks blasted over the bridge.  I savored the moment by not trying to take pics, so I don’t have any to share, but it was awesome.

This was a 4th of July for the books.  Can’t wait until next year.
