The 4th Anniversary Of Our First Date, and Other St. Patty’s Day Affairs

Jason took off work today to celebrate what I call “the anniversary of our first date” and what Jason calls “the anniversary of the day before the first time I blew him off”.  Our first date was on St. Patrick’s Day in 2006.  The next day I called Jason and told him that it wasn’t necessary to call me again for a second date because I wasn’t interested.  I was really great with guys back then.

Anyway, we have celebrated this day ever since.  Until this year we always went to Bourbon Street Cafe, which is where Jason took me on our first date.  This year, we asked each other several times if the other wanted to go to Bourbon Street until we finally realized that neither of us are crazy about that restaurant.  So, this year we went to Zio’s.  We figured, well, at least it’s still in Brick Town.  We got home, took Brinkley for a walk, and in just a bit we are going to put in a movie and eat our Corned Beef and Cabbage.

Neither of us has ever tried corned beef and cabbage, a regular St. Patty’s day affair.  I hadn’t planned on making this the year we try it, but Monday night Jason called from the grocery store and asked if he bought it if I’d cook it.  So, this morning, I seared 2lbs of corned beef, Jason cut all the veggies and we put them in a crock pot to spend the day cooking.  Right before we serve it we are supposed to make the cabbage with the water from the crock pot.  So, we’ll see.  I must admit, it is smelling good.

Other things that happened today…

I joined the YMCA and attended my first ZUMBA class.  For more about ZUMBA click here.

Jason groomed the outdoor cat.  He cut out her matted hair and then brushed her.

This is the cat that came with the house.  Apparently, she belonged to the people who lived here before us, but they left her, so we named her Smokey and took on feeding her, along with all the other neighborhood cats.

That’s about as excited as our lazy day is getting.  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
